Born in a small town in Bulgaria, Serkan Mercan started a new life by his family’s immigration to Turkey soon after he was born. The artist lives and continues his education in Izmir. He has graduated from Ege University, Department of Advertising in 2016. During his undergraduate education, he studied in the Netherlands for 6 months with the Erasmus program. After working in various visual design works in the advertising industry for about two years, he began his graduate education in Photography Department, Fine Arts Institute of Dokuz Eylül University in order to improve himself in the art of photography. He completed his master degree with his thesis titled “The Ostranenie Phenomenon in the Context of Contemporary Art and New Media”. He is currently working as a UI/UX Designer. In addition, he continues to contribute to various culture and art projects in the field of design in Izmir.
